Non-invasive shockwave therapy in Grand Rapids to restart your body’s healing response for tendon and soft-tissue pain that won't quit.
How it works
Shockwave therapy delivers focused acoustic pulses into an injured tendon or chronic problem area. These pulses produce a controlled stress that reactivates a stalled healing response by stimulating new blood vessel formation, increasing blood flow, waking up stalled cells and activating your body’s stem cells for repair.
Why Chronic Injuries May Need More Than Rest
Chronic pain may occur when the healing process stalls, leaving tissue partially healed. StemWave uses controlled acoustic impulses to stimulate the body's natural repair processes and may support recovery when combined with appropriate rehabilitation.
StemWave is often used for conditions lasting six weeks or longer. Newer injuries with significant inflammation may require other treatments first. StemWave is powerful, and it matters that it is aimed correctly, so we always assess before we treat to make sure you are a good candidate to benefit from this therapy.
What to expect
-
Your first visit is a full evaluation of your area of concern.
After taking your history and performing an exam, we can determine if StemWave is the right option for you.
A series of sessions will be recommended based on what kind of condition being treated, how long it has persisted, and your overall health picture.
-
Your provider will apply a small amount of gel and move the handpiece over the targeted area in a steady pattern.
You will feel a tapping sensation over the focus area and some tenderness over any sore areas.
Intensity can be adjusted to your comfort level. Most people describe it as very manageable.
Active treatment takes approximately 5–10 minutes per area.
-
StemWave works cumulatively.
A typical series may include 8-12 sessions, spaced approximately one week apart.
Some conditions may require ongoing maintenance which will be discussed at your initial assessment as well as at the end of your treatment plan based on your progress.
-
There is no required recovery time. You can drive home and return to your day.
Mild soreness the day after treatment is possible and generally settles within 1–2 days
